Seniors, caregivers and their families will be the focus of attention on Thursday, October 16th, 2008, when the 2008 edition of the Duluth Senior Expo convenes at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. A tremendous event is on tap.

Here’s what the Expo crowd will find when the
doors open at 9 a.m.:

  • More than a hundred exhibitors displaying products and services of great interest to consumers — seniors, boomers and beyond.

  • A senior fashion show.

  • Free samples.

  • Free on-the-spot health services, including glucose screening, hearing tests, blood pressure tests and more

  • Flu Shots available from Interim and Senior Friend for a small fee.

  • Seminars on personal finance, elder law, medical issues and other vital topics.

  • Live music and entertainment.

  • Keynote speakers

  • Thousands of dollars in door prizes

America is growing older — and that’s certainly true in the Northland. In the year 2000, the 60-plus population was:

• 16.3 percent of the national population.

• 15.7 percent of the Minnesota population.

• 21 percent of the Arrowhead region’s population.

And by 2030, according to widely accepted state of Minnesota forecasts, the state’s senior population will reach an amazing 25 percent or more. This group of more than 1.25 million people represents enormous buying power and economic clout. All the more reason for our exhibitors to participate in Duluth Senior Expo 2008. And the exhibitors, in turn, create great interest among seniors. It all adds up to quite the buzz on the exhibit floor.

The Duluth Senior Expo 2008, October 16, at the DECC, is sponsored by Humana,  Minnesota Power, Interim Health Care, WDIO-WIRT, Fond-du-Luth Casino, City of Duluth -  Senior Programs, Northland Foundation and Christie Printing
